Craven & Pendle Geological Society founded in 1990 derived its name from the majestic Pendle Hill and the rolling landscape of the Craven Lowlands (Craven Basin / Bowland Basin). NE Lancashire flourished due to coal mining and textiles whilst Clitheroe's economy thrived on quarrying limestone. Close proximity to the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, and the Peak District (all areas of outstanding natural beauty) certainly makes for pleasant field meetings during Summer.
Subscriptions for 2012 to 2013
Subscriptions this year will remain the same although some discussion on a possible future increase to offset higher costs at the new venue will have to take place. So for now subscriptions remain at £12.00 single and £16.00 for family.
Speakers will have access to equipment to enable Powerpoint presentations i.e projector and a multimedia notebook PC. Invited speakers have proved to be popular, informative and entertaining. Meetings end with informal discussion. We also provide members with digital resumes of each talk.
