Burst Clough.  Carboniferous (Asbian) limestone on the flanks of Pendle Hill. CPGS members from left to right are as follows: Carol and Brian Scholes, Yvonne James, John Singleton and 'Ratty'.

This is the type section for the Pendleside Limestone Formation (SD 7808 4220), 0.16km south-east of Angram Green Farm, near Worston.  The base is defined at the first mudstone bed lying above nodule-bearing wackestones ( a characteristic of the Hodderense Limestone Formation).
