Oh Pendle Oh Pendle thow standest alone

'Big End' from Newchurch.  Pendle Hill as viewed from the Pendle Borough end. Here in Pendle we have the most spectacular view of the hill as compared with those who live in the Clitheroe District.  Interestingly enough the geology is quite dissimilar too!  On this side of the hill you are in the "Burnley Basin" - which is dominated by the Coal Measures.  The ridge in the foreground of the photograph is Kinderscout Grit.
